Remains of the David Gelernter Bomb

The ignition switch from the remains of the 1993 David Gelernter bomb is identified as originating from a California workshop in an expose of the FBI's Unabom Cover-up. Because of the angle of the photo of the switch, the shape of the lever is captured more accurately in the right shadow of the lever rather than the direct photo image. It was narrower and roundish near the base and flattened and wider in the top two thirds with its widest point one third the way down from the top. When I held the switch in my hand and played with it during the wine bottling party (a year before the bombs were sent), the lever boinged like a swimming pool diving board (in the center position) as I pushed it back and forth between its three positions (left, right, and middle). The switch would remain in the left or right positions when pushed to the end of its range, and "boing" to the center when nudged out of the positions. The Gelernter and Epstein switches (shown above) are made of hollowed out wood blocks from the parkay flooring (of 1992) used in the hallways, kitchen and game rooms of 15297 Bohlman Road, Saratoga California.
